Draw with Jazza contest November 2016 : Gyacruel

Hello guys !

This is my first ever entry to a Draw with Jazza contest, and oh my god I actually finished it in time D8< That was a shoooort deadline Jazza

Oh my gosh I worked A LOT. I started the lineart about one week ago, and proceeded to make an stupidly high amount of details in the coloring phase, thinking "yea i got time ill b alright", only to finish 1h before the deadline O-O (I hope 17/11/2016, 00:00 AM, Sydney ACTUALLY IS the deadline, and not earlier, because in this case I throw a table through the wall щ(ಠ益ಠщ) )


Time for the author's commentary :

At the beginning I wanted to set a dramatic scene, to set a "there is no way out" feel, both in showing a ridiculously huge height and power difference. In order to do that, the composition was the key : perspective (a bit fisheye-esque) and luminosity contrast. While I tried my best, perspective is something I still have to learn, and the luminosity is not quite as striking as I hoped for. But I'm happy with the power difference and the "claustrophobic" ambience, nobody knows if those two Pokémon dressers and their little pets are going to survive hehe
The textures were a big challenge, because I didn't have a lot of time, and the elements were quite numerous and huge. So I did what I could on the Gyacruel's head and the characters in the foreground, and rushed a bit everything that is in the darkness. And that was a great time discovering that I couldn't draw water I mean, it's okay, but, wow gooey water ! I improvised a lot of things : the Dodrio's fur, the Gyacruel's "veins" in the scales, and of course the water... But that's how I learn to draw

I worked very hard on this, stayed up late and everything. I quite proudly present this picture, even if I think I could have done better with more time, I feel good about it. I learned a few interesting things, and that makes me a better artist

(Also next time the deadline is that short, I won't participate. Ts' too much, man )
